Setter pay

To calculate your pay as a setter, you must first determine what your pay per watt is at the time of the sale (not at the time of installation). Your pay per watt will start at $0.25 per watt or in other words, $250 per kilowatt. If you have recruited other reps to the company, your pay is increased by 5 cents per watt or $50 per kilowatt. For example, if you recruited 2 people to the company and they are fully onboarded, then your pay is $0.35 per watt or $350 per kilowatt. The maximum you can earn as a setter is $500 per kilowatt which is the pay you will be earning if you have recruited 5 people to the company. If your pay is $250 per kilowatt and you set an appointment that closes and the system size of that close is 10 kilowatts, that means your pay for that system will be $2,500 upon installation. Understand that until the system is installed, no one gets paid.

As a setter, you will only have one thing to focus on: set appointments thru cold calling, door knocking or any other means you may generate leads from. Your goal in this role should be to set 3 appointments each day on average. With 3 appointments set each day on average, you can expect to get 2-3 closes per week. That will equate to roughly 10 closes per month and out of those 10 closes, roughly 3-4 installing. 4 installs per month means you will make around $10,000 per month as a setter at the base rate of $250 per kilowatt. You can aim higher or lower, but the results will be based on your effort at the end of the day.

Self gen pay

A self gen is someone who generates their own lead thru canvasing as well as closes that lead. As a self gen, you make the full commission of the deal after cost of goods sold. Cost of goods sold means the REDLINE that you have in a given market plus any adders that were not included in the cost that the customer is contracted to pay. The redline will vary from market to market, and you will need to understand the various costs that may need to be added to a project as an adder otherwise any adder that you do not include in the contract for the customer to pay for will come out of your commission. The self gen role requires a lot more work and responsibility than that of a setter, and we are careful of which setters we chose to transition into this role.

Closer pay

As a closer, your pay will be similar to that of a self gen except in addition, you will have the pay that needs to be allocated to the setter included in your redline. The increase in the redline will depend on the tier that the setter is being paid at the time of the sale. For example, all setters start at $0.25 per watt, which means your redline will be 25 cents higher than that of a self gen. Some setters may have up to a 50 cent pay per watt, which means your redline will be 50 cents higher for the deal made with that setter.
